Pharm2Phork-Wiki:About
From Pharm2Phork-Wiki
Welcome to the Pharm2Phork Wiki
The Pharm2Phork Project is a UK registered non profit organisation created to develop and distribute Open Source Software solutions for the agricultural production, transportation, storage and processing sectors.
While our initial projects primarily addressed compliance with food tracability (EU 178/2002/Sunrise 2005) regulations the scope has now widened to include Logistics, Warehousing, Asset Tracking and Production and Supply Chain monitoring.
The latest versions have seen a move to new technologies for data storage and analysis (RDF/OWL/Fact++), RIA (Flex3/4, HTML5), real time monitors and dashboards, integrated map and proximity support and an IM (Jabber) server. The core services and mobile clients have also been refactored for use on a number of new computing platforms including the iPhone, Google Android handsets and soon, with luck, the new iPad.
Over the past eight years or so we have spent many man years between the team members investigating various technology from industry and academia, this Wiki is where we will now publish the results of those efforts. Many of the projects were funded by EU grants and disappeared after funding ran out and others seem to have spun off as private companies. The code often vanished as well. We have gigabytes of code, screen shots, installation notes etc. We have somewhere around 700 services running on various servers with many of these projects. We will publish as much of this as possible here, as well as a faceted browsing facility to select pages of interest.
The format includes general information and developer data (thanks Mr. Bergman), however in addition to this data we will publish details regarding installation, operation and maintenance where possible. We will also run as many as possible in our portal as time allows. We will provide embedding or links to demos from these pages.
We hope to be up and running by May....
Welcome and enjoy ....
